the R's duly ran out 3-1 winners.
This was a Premier League Cup fixture group stage level played at the FA county ground Leyland.
Following on from this victory over Burnley, the R's now sit proudly in pole position with excellent
prospects of qualifying for the knock out rounds.
I must confess however watching that first half display a win seemed a remote possibility for QPR FC.
Burnley were strong up front and dangerous whereas Rangers hardly troubled the home team keeper.
Therefore it was no real surprise when the Clarets took the lead with a thunderbolt shot from centre forward
Wetshi from just outside the box. Somehow against the run of play R's equalised with a penalty from
Ridwan Hassan thus making the scores level at 1-1 HT
In the second half what a transformation indeed! Rangers got more of the ball became solid at the back
but most important of all were incisive going forward.
Jaylan Pearman soon after the restart scored with a 20 yard screamer of a shot making the score line 2-1
and there were other opportunities to increase the lead further before sub Archie O'Brien sealed matters by
adding the third making the result 3-1. Burnley in the latter period had run out of steam.
The Ref (mostly very good) was obviously a believer in the it's not over till the Fat Lady sings philosophy
because where he got those nearly 9 minutes of time added on was a mystery to me. Fortunately for the R's
that was of no consequence.
As we are all aware QPR FC hold this trophy and the manager, coaching staff & players appear determined to
repeat the success of last season.
