And I've just got this off of t'interweb:
R.I.P. 'legendary' soul singer Brenton Wood, 83 (never heard of him),
real name Alfred Jessie Smith (or him), most famous (?) for
The Oogum Boogum Song (??)
A point for both Kerrins & I, as Tony Blackburn mentioned Sam & Brenton on today's show.
And played their songs.
He also said that Peter Jarrow, of Peter, Paul & Mary fame had died.
Very sad new from the Independent........
'Garth Hudson, the wildly talented multi-instrumentalist best known for playing keyboards and saxophone
for The Band, has died. He was 87.
Hudson was the last surviving founding member of the influential Americana band. Guitarist Robbie Robertson
died last year at the age of 80, following drummer Levon Helm who died in 2012 at 71, bassist Rick Danko in 1999 at 55,
and pianist Richard Manuel in 1986 at 42.'
