Last season’s away fixture against AFC Wimbledon was played at the Cherry Red Records Stadium
but for this latest clash the venue was switched to the War Memorial Ground in Carshalton.

After meeting up with Sammy at Park Royal Station, we headed on to Victoria before taking the
Southern Rail train to Carshalton.

The Rangers starting line-up included debutant, Chloe Gunn and on the Dons bench was former
R’s player, Chloe Sampson.

Following an excellent move, it was the away side who went close to taking the lead after
Emilia Nygaard-Parsons, went one-on-one with Faye Baker, but she shot just wide of the post.

Wimbledon responded with Emily Donovan’s low effort from around 20-yards, which was aimed
directly into Katie McLean’s gloves.

Rangers took the lead in the 14th minute, and what a goal it was! Following a corner and with her
back to the goal, Chloe Gunn superbly hooked the ball into the back of the net.

A Wimbledon effort from around 25-yards dipped late but cleared the crossbar.
Then, an angled shot was well saved byKatie McLean, who just managed to push the ball behind for
a corner.

The Dons had another good opportunity following a defensive error, but the R’s keeper was on hand to
make an important stop on the edge of the box. Half-time: 1-0.

The home side broke away in the opening minutes of the second-half, which resulted in Ellie Dorey lifting
the ball well over the bar from just inside the box.

Wimbledon were awarded a free kick from around 25-yards out and Ashlee Hincks’ shot narrowly evaded the
upright.

In the 55th minute, Rangers had the ball in the net, but it was then ruled out for offside.

Becki Bath let fly from 25-yards which forced Katie McLean into making a great save as she managed to
superbly tip the ball onto the crossbar.

The Dons went close to an equaliser after a deep free kick into the box was headed just wide.

In the closing stages Katie McLean made an absolutely stunning save when she dived backwards to
somehow put Emily Donovan’s long-range shot over the bar!

Under pressure in the second-half, the R’s keeper was in magnificent form and the Rangers back-line
held firm against a side who had finished third in the league last season.

Good to meet-up with Linda Favell before kick-off….
