4-1 Win for the U18's Yesterday...

Post by Steve Russell »

A 4-1 win v Portsmouth in a friendly at Heston yesterday.

Chris also informed me that despite conceding in the 1st minute,
it was a great all-round performance.

Excellent in m/f were Sam Sackey, Teddy Lawrence & Shannon Brown

Excellent match report from Chris Hewitt...
QPR under 18s played Portsmouth in a friendly Saturday morning.

Despite conceding after 45 seconds the game was very
one sided and Rangers eventually ran out 4-1 winners and it could have been more.

Our starting line up had one change from the Bristol City home game one week before
with Teddy Lawrence replacing Alfie Tuck in midfield. Despite the early set back
we had equalised within four minutes when Ramy Bouhiaoui scored for the third
consecutive game when he was fouled in the box and he slotted home from ten yards .

On 35 minutes a Talla free kick was met by centre back Salvatore Marino and his header
saw the Pompey keeper pull off an excellent save. Right on half time Kieran Petrie
Let fly from 20 yards and once again the Pompey keeper made a crucial save.
HT 1-1

Conor Clark replaced Kacper Zapieraczynski in goal at the start of the second half.
Apart from conceding in the first minute from a hugely deflected shot, Kacper hardly
touched the ball. That theme would continue second half.

On 48 minutes Ramy Bouhiaoui robbed the left back , went clear through on goal
and picked his spot to give Rangers the lead. It was his 4th goal in 3 games.

Shortly after that he nearly scored his hat-trick when his mazy run saw him force
the overworked keeper into another save and he somehow saved the follow up shot
from Kieran Petrie.

Just after the hour Conor Clark made his first and only save , as I said at the beginning,
it was very one sided. On 67 minutes Teddy Lawrence was fed by Jabari Christmas and
he picked his spot in the top corner to make it 3-1 and like Bouhiaoui scored for the
third game running.

Our midfield were running the show and on 75 minutes we had a two minute period
of possession which saw something like 30 passes which had Pompey players chasing shadows.
The ball was only in one half of the pitch.

With a few minutes left Jake Leahy skipped past two challenges but screwed
his ten yard shot inches wide.

A minute later Samuel Sackey had a 20 yard shot excellently saved by the keeper.
In the dying seconds Leahy caught the right back in possession , advanced into the box
and cheekily back heeled the ball into the path of Lorent Talla who finished from 10 yards.

If truth be known the score flattered Pompey as we dominated so much we only had
to deal with two shots on target while Pompey keeper kept the score line respectable.

An excellent all round performance and there are some very talented boys in our under 18s
this season.

Team. 13. Kacper Zapieraczynski GK (replaced by 1. Clark on 46) 2. Derek Luzinda
3. Jake Leahy (16. Noah McCann on 20) 4. Shannon Brown 5. Charlie McDonald
6. Salvatore Marino 7. Samuel Sackey 17. Teddy Lawrence (. 3. Jake Leahy on 67
9. Ramy Bouhiaoui( 8. Jabari Christmas on 60) 10. Lorent Talla (c)
11. Kieran Petrie (12. Alfie Tuck on 61)

And yes, left back number 3 Jake Leahy went off and came back on.
