I have just bought the 1982 Cup Final on DVD from the link below, it is the first time the whole of the first game has been available on DVD or video and I came across it by chance as I have never seen it advertised anywhere else , E-bay Play.com etc. well worth the money at £6.99 with free postage. This is the link :http://www.tikabooson.com/Search+by+Club/Queens+Park+Rangers/FA+Cup+-+Queens+Park+Rangers/list.htm
Some great footage on there of the build up with the rangers flags, players coming out being introduced to Princess Anne etc. Brian Clough was the co commentator and came out with some classics not knowing what position Gary Micklewhite or Gary Brooke played ! and this from one of the top managers of the time, well they said Peter Taylor was more of the football brain behind them. He also said how he didn't rate Archibald imagine the uproar nowadays about a comment like that.
Having watched the game in full for the first time since being there I had a few observations , Roeder and Waddock were immense that day if only Glenn could have played in the replay, Stainrod is my all time hero , but boy did he spend a lot of time on the deck that day. Also players fitness, they were all knackered with socks rolled down and as for Gary Brooke I can't believe he could ever be a footballer with that body shape, how times change with the athletes nowadays.
Also they said a few times the ref Clive White from Harrow who made a few dubious decisions over the two games ran an off licence in Harrow , I wonder how many Rangers boys paid him a visit after the replay!

That is a great and wonderful post chris, a time when the game as well as the people in it seemed so much more like how football should be. If Rangers had of won that final no one could have said we did not deserve it. Our time will come around again and I hope the club read this. Take note QPR press office, we do have a history and a proud one.

Throw in: If only Clive Allen hadn't gotten injured: Been able to play the whole game...And if only Allen hadn't been injured for the replay.
But beyond the disappointment of the defeat, I think all QPR fans KNEW we had a brilliant future to look forward to under Terry Venables and the team he was building.

Then Barca came in on the horizon and in the blink of an eye it turned to the dark side.
We lost that final but not morally, even Spuds fans knew we were the better team. And what about Gregory's audacious cross/shot from way out wide that hit the post??
For only the second time in my life (Till even now) I cried regarding QPR, I felt we were ripped off. The worse was to come....1985

Obviously Mr Finney, it is too hard for Lotto to get the message.

Lotto take note its not that hard to get it right. I love that tracksuit top Paul ,I still have the original from when I was 11 and I bought the replica the club shop were selling. It was a great touch that day in order to get the famous hoops at wembley as we were wearing red, we were ahead of our time as the likes of Spain did a similar thing with their red shirts at the world cup as did Barcelona at Wembley in the European Cup Final. On the subject of the new away shirts I don't like to be negative but Lotto more so probably than the club have got it badly wrong, blimey in the publicity photos there is even a backdrop of the 75-76 shirts to go by,how can they get it so wrong?

Great post Chris. Someone told me once that White unexpectedly retired immediately after that game - never reffed another match. Anyone know if that is true? There were indeed some dubious decisions. I remember getting the train back to High Wycombe after the game with the train absolutely packed. Any non football fan passengers would have thought Rangers had won as the Rs were generally very positive and the Spurs fans looking gloomy. They knew we'd murdered them in the replay. Very unfortunate. Gregory's effort that hit the cross bar was magnificent.
