Nodge,Paul and Steve great points as always with Ingham as well.

Thing is when we sold out to Marler a few seen the Fulham Park Rangers thing on the way but people like me did not and always remember seeing the standard on the back was the Fulham Park Rangers thing and near fell off the tube.
The thank god our fans put that to bed and i think as well that Bulstrode before his death was coming round to Qpr and our way of thinking and in true Qpr manner it all went wrong.

Now as you Nodge say's thompson was a weird one his was showing daddy what a star he was and cutting his teeth with our club and more than that the people around him and some of them were QPR fans got it very wrong about the mindset of the fans and were he was taking the club.
He also got very lucky in the players we had that team was one of the best sides in the league and put together a team that with a few faces into the squad could and would have pushed the best of them all the way and as a result of thompson and that board to stand still and not move the club forward when at the time we had one of them chances that come along now and again in them days of a void and a team like Rangers with the players we had knocked on the door but the board did not open it enough and made some real crash and burn decisions such as the brainwave of getting Marsh in as DOF and in doing so knew that Francis would walk and he did a move that put us back years.
Then when Thomspon seen the pot of gold about to come into the league he backed Wilkins with the money from the sale of Les and he pissed it up the wall and then came the slow death of our club.

Wright came in and again promised some much even got himself and others talking about a second premier league set up made us a PLC and like Thompson had the wrong people around him and was not strong or hands on enough to stop others making some mistakes of the highest order.
Then he fired his toys out of the prem and we went into Admin again like Thompson his pram throwing set up back many years and with the fall from grace with Wright came to the table mergers with Brentford,Wimbledon and even had Winkleman come down and start the talk of MK Rangers as it would have been.

ABC was one again move that could only happen to Rangers and when you see the fall out of what went on with Derby you can see why many felt that deal was wrong and if the board had of stood up to the football league who they blamed, for the club taking that loan out.
My own view was that the board at the time paniced and played into ABC hands and don't care what anyone say's the football league would have backed down as the letter the club got was a standard one and one that could have been won over even if we had to take the legal route.
The board again made a decision that again took us back a few years.

The fact that when Paladini came in the club was fighting its way back and heading the league table and had a decent first season back in the championship, Unlike the others it was not the people around him but him that made some more huge decisions that took to the club back to the door of the grim ripper.

Fact is, Nodge to me has a very good point and one that i think is more than food for thought and that is that once again Queen's Park Rangers is being used for teeth cutting for a man in the business world.
I just hope this time it comes good as this is twenty years on from where we started in this post of when Thompson came in and i hope history will not look at this board in the same light as that one and i hope and pray that this board will give a thought to the loyal fans who without them Queen's Park Rangers would have gone years ago.

time will tell.

It can be instructive to set out a few scenarios which aren't based on the usual assumptions.

Let's say that the only interest any of them has is selling their shares at a profit. Not necessarily a vast profit. Just to prove themselves, and come out ahead.

Would there be any difference? They take over - I mean at all the Clubs, not just here - and roll out the usual PR. Great club, back where it belongs, big investment, significant changes, revenue streams.

They know this means nothing, because they know they have no idea how to do it. It's no more than 'doing a property up' before you sell it. Doesn't mean you like it, you believe it, you spend time there, or you want to live there. Just means you wish to create a favourable enough impression to pull in just one of the prospective buyers who noses around.

You may feel that this couldn't be the case, but how much real evidence is there that it isn't? Gregory was interested in several Clubs (even when he was at QPR), Marler had their finger in three, Thompson was with us, went to Leeds, then tried to buy Brentford's ground. Wright ran QPR as half of a joint football-rugby project.

Only Gregory had any discernible talent, and there are few Gregorys anywhere in football. He's about as rare as Brian Clough on the management side.

They come, they go. What sticks in my mind - apart from the football under Gregory, allowing that we had some decent runs and the odd good season at other times - is the property speculation, the attempted mergers, and all the talk about money, shares, shareholders - and 'business'.

As well as that the Club - though not the millionaires and billionairies, it seems - is losing more and more money every season.

Despite all the money they're supposedly 'putting into the Club'.

So I'd need a lot of persuading that they think about QPR (which is different to thinking about the shares they own in their own 'holding company'), are in any way interested in it - except as their 'property' - that they identify with it, that they will stick with the Club through the hard times, and that they will turn it into a big success.

I can wait, of course. But so far, despite all the billions, they don't even exist, not to me. What difference does any of them make to QPR? It has its name, its league position, its support, its colours, its traditions, its ground.

Not one of those things has anything to do with them. Indeed, their only likely influence is that we might lose one or all of the things we value about the Club.

Taking them seriously is like taking adverts seriously. 'Probably the best lager in the world', where the words are always carefully chosen to SOUND like they're telling you something, without actually doing so.

Jim Gregory was undoubtedly a menace in other ways - mergers particularly - but he had the one thing that makes a difference, and that hardly any Club really has - the talent to stand out from the nonentities.

While the modern game seems more and more to consist in a very basic substructure - witness the England team's performance in the World Cup - with a vast froth of claims, pretence, smokescreens.

All so true, Ingham.
It would be hilarious if it weren't happening to our club.
As for 'they come, they go' - the sooner the better IMO.
