Well done to the Club...

QPR will run foodbank collections before every weekend home game, starting with Saturday’s match against Luton Town.

QPR in the Community Trust is strengthening its partnership with Hammersmith & Fulham Foodbank, which relies on public donations to provide emergency food parcels to local people in crisis.

On Saturday volunteers from the foodbank will be at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium to collect donations from supporters. In future, there will be a foodbank collection at the family Fan Zone before each weekend home game.

As footballer’s we have come here and it has helped us put into perspective to see how much these people do for others.

On Tuesday, Rangers right-back Ángel Rangel visited the foodbank, which is located just around the corner from the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium, along with Under 23s players Themis Kefalas and Shiloh Remy, to help unload and sort food that had been donated and recognise the fantastic work the foodbank does.

Speaking to www.qpr.co.uk defender Ángel praised the project, stating: “It is fantastic!” The Spaniard added: “When it comes to food you know it is one of the necessary things in life and you can see why people get involved with project’s like this and try to help as much as they can for the people that really need it.

As footballer’s we have come here and it has helped us put into perspective to see how much these people do for others, as I always say QPR is a great community club and the location here in Shepherds Bush is great at helping the local area.

The club being involved can benefit the charity massively, hopefully Saturday at the Family Fan Zone there will be a good turn up with the donations and everyone will get see the difference we can make, but most importantly we are very pleased to be able to help people who really need it.”

We also spoke to Steve Howard who is manager of the local foodbank, he explained: “We feed a whole range of people, but unfortunately, we face a growing demand. The help Queens Park Rangers can give us by arranging an event on Saturday and throughout the season which fans can bring donations along to the game can help contribute to the work we do and benefit the causes that we are serving.

On Saturday, we are really grateful that QPR have arranged for fans to bring food along to the game and we will have a team of volunteers on hand who will accept the food and bring it back to the warehouse, sort it and arrange for it to be distributed to the people in the borough who need us.”

Saturday’s H&F foodbank collection point will be located at QPR’s Family Fan Zone and will appreciate all non-perishable donations. However, the items which can make the most difference are listed below:

Biscuits
Long-life juice
Long-life milk
Tinned rice pudding
Spread- such as jam, peanut butter, honey
Cereal
Pasta Sauce
Loo roll

Anything you could donate would make a huge difference and be greatly appreciated.
