Cheers PompeeR - rumours coming thick and fast and signings - Warnock gambles on Leon Clarke

see http://www.clubfanzine.com/QPR/v2.showNews.php?id=28002

for a summary of his career so far....

Have to say - 2 signings this early - bearing in mind not much usually happens until July - is some going!

Tamika Mkandawire - centre half from Leyton is the latest name associated - with it mentioned that he could be a replacement for Stewart...?

This sounds like agent speak to me - you can tell its bull because it always starts with a number of clubs fighting for the signature of Player X - who has been told by his agent he is the best player in the team and should be playing at a higher level. More often and not he'll end up with an improved contract with the team his with at the moment. Lets face it - this bloke is 27 and plays for a poor league 1 club and if he was going to make it would have done so by now. "Long term replacement" my arse.

Volz appears to have joined St Pauli who I presume he was going to join in January/ before the deadline but didnt.

Shaun Derry is rumoured to be just about to sign and Ambrose is said to be keen but its down to the new owners. If he does sign i'm guessing Mahon will be moving on, however, i wouldnt be surprised to see a number of changes - Is Rowland going to be back to his best after 2 knee injuries? Wasnt Leigertwood sold by Warnock? Mahon is out of contract (I think) and has been injured, Ephraim hasnt been given the opportunities and lets be honest we not short in the middle. I think it is pretty obvious we'll be losing a couple of them.

Also rumoured to be leaving - Cook but i think that is based on having to fill column inches then any specific offers or news.

So far so good - Kenny, Hill and Derry - all good signings -the type of player we need. Experience, gobby, no messing about - might help bring the best out of the others.

Mackie and Clarke could be very good - mixed reviews but i would be more worried if Warnock wasnt after a couple more strikers. I'd like to see Taarabt and Simpson back and if i'm being greedy one more decent proven striker.

I'm expecting a few to be leaving this week or next as well.

Rumoured to be having a look at Peltier from Huddersfield. They've denied any contact and say the bidding starts at £3m+

Mark Walters is the latest rumuor - apparently a £2.5m bid has been rejected. This comes across as a strong rumour - a number of sources reporting it has been rejected at the same time.

Peltier at Huddersfield came across as slightly differently - lots of people saying that no bid had been accepted and "we wouldnt accept less then £3.5m" - has an agents touch about it to me.

Interestingly we have been making some big bids (or rumoured to) for midfielders (MacAnuff, Walters, Ambrose) and have got Derry for a midfield that is already strong and we have a large number of midfield players already. I've always thought the defence and the strikers are where we've needed strengthening. But then again Players like Helguson (who appeared to have been confirmed as sold last) season are back and lets not forget - he was a quality striker (in the Emile Heskey sense of the word) but scored more for Watford in a couple of games then he had for QPR in a season. Pelicori and Alberti are still here aswell...
However we didnt have a huge squad (when you took away the loanees) so we have a bit of room for squad players.

It will be interesting to see what happens between now and the start of the season, I was sure at the end of last season a large number of players would be gone - not so sure now. I wonder if Warnock is going to get teh best out of players who have been mediocre int he past.

I would still like to see a quality striker or two come in.

A rumour has reached Bristol City FC that there is some wrangling behind the scenes at QPR delaying the transfer of Bradley Orr. There appears to be a difference of opinion on how to spend transfer money between Mittal and Briatore! Bristol City say Rangers have indicated the transfer may be completed next week.

Seemed to drag out rather along time and then only went through after we let them have Stewart.

Ryan Taylor coming in. Apparently Warnock feels we need a utility player to cover some positions
