Both touching pieces chaps.

I had the privilege of being in the crown and sceptre when Gerry started on his first day. instantly likeable fellow and made a point of coming over to most people who had been in the pub supping a few pints.
The little group of drinkers who regularly gathered at the end of the bar filled him in with what he needed to know, and then he came and sat with me and my wife for a good 20 minutes,my wifes father is from galway, so most of the chat was names and places there.
We were eating a thai at the time so Gerry said don't let me keep you, and sent us over a couple of drinks.
He sorted the pub right out and never had any nonsense.
Never managed to get me boat race on that qpr mural/picture of loftus road on the wall in there, is it still there, as I say haven't been in there for a couple of years.
The pub will be worse off without him but we cant forget his legacy.

so cheers to you Gerry. R.I.P.

From John Howard on the 'You're Probably from W12 if...' Facebook group....

'The current guvnor, Gerry Higgins, died suddenly, a few weeks ago. I believe it was a brain haemorrhage. He was a lovely guy.

Tomorrow we are going to line greenside road as his cortage passes by. It will be a big turn out.'

parked me car just after 12 oclock around the corner of the crown and sceptre,
traffic warden said he wasn't handing out tickets until the hearse leaves the pub.....nice of him :D
a good crowd had gathered along side and across the road from the pub, maybe
a good 200+.
the hearse left just after 1 oclock to a very heart felt applause that went on for about 5 minutes.

fair play to those that turned out, a lot of photos were taken as well as a fellow going around filming everyone.

rip gerry.....you had a good send off.

Rest in peace, Gerry. What sad news and especially with it being so sudden.
