U18 Professional Development League 2 Team: Dickinson, Springer-Downes, Antwi, Orafu, Noel-McLeod, Gubbins, Goather-Braithwaite, Akinola, Francis-Adeyinka, Dauti, Ribeiro This final league game of a disappointing season, kicked off at Harlington in splendid sunshine at the slightly earlier time of 10.30am. Romeo Akinola captained the Rangers side and Tyla Dickinson had to replace Myles Bowman in goal. The Terriers had the first real effort of the morning when a decent shot was blocked by an R’s defender. Rangers replied soon after when … Continue reading

FA Youth Cup 4th Round QPR: Brzozowski, Barzey (Springer-Downes), Genovesi, Klass (Platt), Eales, Fox, Francis-Adeyinka, Folkes, Eshun (Mesias), Akinola, Bowler Subs Not Used: Bowman, Ribeiro Attendance: 647 It was very unusual to see fan segregation at a youth match at Loftus Road. The stewards had been saying before the game that they were expecting a large contingent of Tottenham fans, but this didn’t materialise. Kenny Jackett, Jamie Mackie, Lee Cook, Marc Bircham, Curtis Fleming and Graham Stuart were amongst those … Continue reading

Team: Brzozowski, Springer-Downes, Barzey, Klass, Eales, Fox, Alfa, Folkes, Eshun, Akinola, Bowler Attendance: 132 When news filtered through that an R’s side were scheduled to take on Ware, I decided to email Stephen King at the club. He soon replied and went on to inform me that QPR had played them once before on 27th December 1948. The Rangers ‘A’ side had gone down 2-6 on that occasion and he kindly sent me a scan of what must be an … Continue reading

U18 Professional Development League 2 Team: Brzozowski, Eales, Fox, Donnellan, Matthews, Arthur, Alfa, Clarke, Adams, Darbyshire, Crichlow Charlton were the current league leaders and back in August had defeated the R’s 9-0! In goal for the R’s was Marcin Brzozowski who made his debut last month for Poland’s U18’s and had kept a clean sheet against Serbia. As the QPR players lined up for the kick-off, Alan Barnes pointed out that two centre-backs had reverted to full-back. The visitors hit … Continue reading

U18 Professional Development League 2 Team: Haigh, Matthews, Williams (Springer-Downes), Anastasiou (Barzey), Arthur (Folkes), Fox, Alfa, Donnellan, Adams, Crichlow, Bowler With the shortage of goalkeepers, including R’s fan Lewis Todd’s recent departure to Watford, trialist Chris Haigh made his debut between the posts. The Rangers debutant soon made a good take under pressure and within eight minutes, the R’s took the lead after Brandon Adams took advantage of a defensive error. He took a touch wide of the keeper and … Continue reading

Team: Todd, Eales (Springer-Downes), Williams, Akinola, Arthur, Fox, Bolkiah, Klass, Darbyshire (Alfa), Crichlow, Bowler Sub Not Used: Gaster When I arrived at Harlington just ahead of the 11.30am kick-off, the U15’s match against Arsenal was underway on the adjacent pitch. The U18’s had lost their previous game 9-2 at Leeds United whilst the Tykes had obtained a 2-2 draw with Bristol City. QPR opened the scoring after 15 minutes when Gianni Crichlow’s free kick was swung in from the right … Continue reading

U18 Professional Development League 2 Team: Todd, Matthews, Williams, Donnellan (Bettache), Arthur, Fox (Eales), Crichlow, Folkes, Darbyshire, Clarke (Alfa), Bowler Subs Not Used: Mesias, Dauti I was informed upon arrival at the gate that I couldn’t access the training ground until 10.30am. Find all this nonsense totally unnecessary. The U18’s had lost their opening game 3-2 at Huddersfield the previous week. Paul Furlong made a couple of changes for the visit of Hull City. The first decent effort fell to … Continue reading

U18 Professional Development League 2 Team: Hudnott, Springer-Downes, Williams (J), Klass, Eales, Thompson, Komodikis, Corkery, Alfa, Darbyshire, Bowler A Nathan Corkery free kick cleared the bar but Rangers were struggling to get going. It was the visitors who were soon creating the better chances and Conor Hudnott made a great save from close range with his legs. Rhys Springer-Downes brought down an opponent in the box, and not surprisingly, the referee awarded a penalty. The spot kick was very casually … Continue reading
