The Independent R’s wish to express our condolences to Rio Ferdinand, his family and friends, at the loss of Rebecca Ellison, his wife of six years.
We were truly shocked and saddened to hear that Rebecca lost a short battle with cancer at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London.
No words can provide solace in the face of such awful news. But we truly hope the support of loved ones, and indeed the QPR family, will help Rio and their three young children in the days and weeks to come.
At the request of club captain Clint Hill, black armbands were worn by the team at our fixture with Liverpool at Anfield today.
Rest in peace Rebecca.
