The 1979 Open Day was held at the West London Sports Stadium, Du Cane Road, W12 and admission was by programme (50p). The Secretary of the Supporters Club, Daphne Biggs, welcomed Rangers fans to this summer event:
‘This afternoon you will be able to meet the players, watch them train, ask for their autographs, even take their photographs.
There will be sideshows, stalls and other attractions.
I would like to thank all concerned with the six-a-side football competition and all the many other people who have helped in various ways.
I hope you have an enjoyable and interesting afternoon.’
The programme of events was listed as follows:
2.00pm: Coaching & Training Session – 1st team, Reserves, Youth team..
3.00pm: Penalty Competition – QPR goalkeepers.
3.30pm: Autograph Session.
4.00pm: 6-a-side, QPR over 28, QPR Supporters, QPR Select, Susie Barnes Radio London team, Kid Jensen Radio One team and A. N. Other.
Nineteen-year-old goalkeeper Chris Woods had just signed for £250,000 from Nottingham Forest and other members of the squad included; Clive Allen, Stan Bowles, Paul Goddard, Billy Hamilton, Paul McGee, Don Shanks, Barry Wallace and Micky Walsh.

Nice to see the advert for The Target. A long time Rs stronghold – a McDonalds for more than 20 years now of course. Pubs disappearing or changing use is nothing new. George Graham made the big mistake of meeting Terry Fenwick in there for a quiet drink in 1987 whilst trying to entice him to Arsenal….not the best venue!
