Posted on by Site Admin

The following article was written by James Gates and appeared in this week’s¬†’Ealing & Acton’¬†Gazette: ‘Campaigners are taking Ealing Council to court over allegations it has acted unlawfully over the Warren Farm sports site. Papers were lodged at the High Court yesterday asking for a judicial review into the council’s decision to sign over 61 acres of green belt land rent-free for 200 years to Queen’s Park Rangers. The club is working with the council to provide a multi-million pound … Continue reading

QPR v Bolton Wanderers – Injury to Charlie Austin Mars Rangers Victory

Posted on by Site Admin

Team: Green, Traore, Dunne, Hill, Assou-Ekotto, Phillips, Carroll, Henry, Kranjcar (Wright-Phillips), Johnson, Austin (Zamora). Subs Not Used: Murphy, Ehmer, Diakite, O’Neil, Hoilett Attendance: 15,097 Tuesday night’s performance in the first 45 and last 15 minutes was not good enough and showed that what looks to be a strong side on paper is way off the mark in reality. What amazed me is that for the first 30 minutes of the second-half we, as usual, pushed 20 yards up the pitch … Continue reading

One Hundred Years an ‘R’

Posted on by Site Admin

Despite being a regular reader, I’ve never contributed to the Indy R’s website before, but following a chat with Indy R’s stalwart Paul Finney about my family background and its long term love affair with QPR, I was coaxed to share. So spare me the indulgence if you will. Edward Evans, my great-grandfather, was a former caretaker of the White City estate, and lived in both the estate proper before moving to a property on the corner of Ellerslie Road … Continue reading

Can anyone help with the Name of this 1940’s/50’s Barber Shop in (Probably) Askew Road, Shepherd’s Bush?

Posted on by Steve Russell

Sue Holman grew up in Askew Mansions, Shepherd’s Bush and as a child she had her hair cut in a barber’s shop close by. Later, the family moved down to Cornwall, and she used to return to the Bush from time to time to visit relatives, but doesn’t remember if the shop was still there then? However, she does know that the shop must have survived the Blitz as it was definitely still in existence in 1951. She is eager … Continue reading

Austin motors Rangers past spirited Huddersfield

Posted on by Steve Sayce

Back in August I was roundly hammered on a Huddersfield fan site for a match report I wrote of the reverse fixture at the John Smith’s stadium. My report went viral and my name was mud in a certain part of Yorkshire. I wrote “The overall shot count was 17 for QPR versus 6 to Huddersfield and even this stat doesn’t reflect the gulf in class” One of the more polite comments in response was this: “In fairness we did … Continue reading

QPR Screen References: No.19 – EastEnders Episode – 14th January 2014

Posted on by Steve Russell

South Devon R alerted me to a surprising QPR reference in a recent episode of ‘EastEnders’ on BBC One. So I then watched (part) of my first ever episode on BBC iPlayer and sure enough nine or so minutes in, Terry Alderton (who plays a cab driver) says to a stallholder in Albert Square: ‚ÄúDo you know, I feel about as welcome as a Chelsea fan at Loftus Road at Bianca’s at the minute‚Äù. Actor, comedian and presenter, ESSEXURs forwarded … Continue reading

Niko, Niko Niko inspires R’s to Impressive Victory

Posted on by Gary Decaires

QPR put behind their disappointing cup defeat at Everton from the week before with an impressive win here at Portman Road. Second-half strikes from Niko Kranjcar, Gary O’Neil and a collectors item of a goal from Armand Traore saw the R’s win comfortably over a below par on the day Ipswich side. With the first full week in January gone and no sign or inkling of any strikers heading in-bound to Loftus Road, Harry Redknapp decided to keep faith with … Continue reading
