Christmas Greetings from the Indy R’s

Firstly we would like to thank everyone that has contributed over the last 12 months to our website and Facebook page.

Our first ever Vox Pop video appeared on You Tube in September and proved to be a great success.

The appointment of Harry Redknapp just over a year ago wasn’t enough to save us from relegation, but since August the R’s have had a decent start to their promotion campaign and currently sit in second place behind Burnley. Off the pitch, the club finally unveiled their plans in December for a new 40,000 stadium in Old Oak Common.

Once again the U18’s had another very successful year under Steve Gallen. At the end of last season they won the Professional Development League Two Play-Off Final against Huddersfield Town at Loftus Road.

Then, at the end of August, they lifted the Newark International Soccer Classic trophy in New Jersey after thrashing Liverpool 5-1. So far this season they have won 11 out of 14 league games and are 11 points clear of Millwall in second place. Well done to Steve Gallen, his staff and all of his players on such a magnificent 12 months.

Former player Brian Taylor sadly passed away recently. A product of our Youth team in the 1960’s,he went on to make over 50 appearances for the 1st team before joining Romford.

Our thoughts also go out to all R’s fans that are hospitalised or seriously ill. Among those that we have lost recently are; Russell Moore, Steve Wilson (only in his 30’s and aka Dublin Ranger on Twitter) and JJ’s Dad, James Murray.

Jimmy tells me that James was born in County Louth and came to County Kilburn via Paddington in 1951. A regular drink with his mates on a Saturday afternoon soon turned into a pilgrimage to Loftus Road, where they would walk to and from Kilburn to the game. He sadly died at the age of 89, but never lost his passion for all things R’s.

Lastly on a happier note, we would like to wish R’s fan Rory Burton, who is serving with the Royal Highland Fusiliers in Afghanistan, and Rangers fans everywhere a Very Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year.
