QPR Vs Leicester City

Posted on by Site Admin

Team: Green, Simpson, Dunne, Hill, Assou-Ekotto, Phillips, Carroll (Benayoun), Barton, Kranjcar, O’Neil (Hoilett), Austin. Subs Not Used: Murphy, Traore, Onuoha, Henry, Jenas Attendance: 17,713 We got done on Saturday by a route-one goal, but also by a pair of strikers who have a great understanding of each other. But that’s what you get by playing two upfront I suppose!!! Although Benny’s positioning and cover play was poor when Jamie Vardy ran into the box, our play box to box was … Continue reading

Christmas Greetings from the Indy R’s

Posted on by Steve Russell

Firstly we would like to thank everyone that has contributed over the last 12 months to our website and Facebook page. Our first ever Vox Pop video appeared on You Tube in September and proved to be a great success. The appointment of Harry Redknapp just over a year ago wasn’t enough to save us from relegation, but since August the R’s have had a decent start to their promotion campaign and currently sit in second place behind Burnley. Off … Continue reading

In Memory of Russell Moore

Posted on by Steve Russell

I was deeply saddened when I read the news on Facebook last month that Russell Moore had passed away at the age of 52. Russell worked for Cobham FC as a Ground Steward and the club reported his death on their website as follows: ‘It is with great sadness that we bring the news that our long serving Ground Steward, Russell Moore, passed away this week. The great man was loved and will be sorely missed by all of us … Continue reading

Blackpool Rocks for Classy QPR

Posted on by Gary Decaires

QPR grabbed their first away win since September following an excellent second half performance at a very wet and windswept Bloomfield Road. After a first half in which Blackpool were the better of the two sides , the R’s stood firm and stepped up a couple of gears to claim a very important three points in the chase for an immediate return to the Premier League. Following another injury to Andy Johnson, Harry Redknapp decided to revert back to what … Continue reading

QPR Fan Thom Gibbs’ Open Letter to Tony Fernandes over his Stadium Plans

Posted on by Site Admin

Telegraph Sport’s Thom Gibbs has been a Rangers fan for 23 years. His open letter to Tony Fernandes in the Telegraph today following the announcement of the club’s new stadium plans raises many points. What do you think? – Steve Russell Dear Tony, How are you? I am fine. I do hope your airline is well. Sorry about the Formula One season. Maybe next year, eh? I write after your plans for a new 40,000-seater Queen’s Park Rangers stadium was … Continue reading

QPR v Blackburn Rovers

Posted on by Site Admin

Team: Green, Simpson, Dunne, Hill, Assou-Ekotto (Traore), Phillips (O’Neil), Carroll, Barton, Hoilett (Kranjcar), Johnson, Austin Subs Not Used: Murphy, Onuoha, Henry, Jenas Attendance: 15,987 (including 809 Rovers fans) How frustrating was that on Saturday afternoon! As predicted, Blackburn played three at the back and packed a narrow midfield while we went 4-4-2, but we didn’t exploit the space down the flanks because we play our wingers on the wrong sides. So all they did was cut inside when what was … Continue reading

‘The News-Letter’ – the 1950’s QPR Supporters Club Periodical

Posted on by Steve Russell

There have been a number of periodicals issued by the Club/Supporters Club since the 1940’s. The first one I featured in this series was ‘The Superhoop’ from the 1970’s and this was followed by the ‘Bush Ranger’ from the 1980’s. Usually, life expectancy was just a few years, but although there were early teething problems, the ‘News-Letter’ appears to be more prolific than most. In the 1951/52 Handbook, ‚ÄúBushranger‚Äù wrote the following, titled, ‚ÄúDear Rangerite‚Ķ‚Äù: ‘The title of this article … Continue reading
