QPR v Walsall – Capital One Cup 2nd Round

Posted on by Finney

Team: Green, Bosingwa, Fabio, Ferdinand, Nelsen, Park, Faurlin, Wright-Phillips (Traore), Hoilett (Dyer), Johnson, Zamora (Cisse) Subs Not Used: Murphy, Onuoha, Derry, Mackie Attendance: 6,129 (including 436 visiting fans) Great display from Faurlin on Tuesday night and so pleased for the fella. I thought Zamora had a good one as well. And whisper it quietly, but if Kieron Dyer can stay fit this time he could be the big surprise for us this season. Jbee How refreshing it was to hear … Continue reading

I met up with him at Stanmore station and we later picked up Mark and Jamie. It was slow going along that stretch of the A11 through the forest, but we’d left early and eventually parked up in that massive car … Continue reading

In Memory of Mrs QPR – Daphne Biggs

Posted on by Finney

Daphne Biggs was born on 29th July 1925 and today marks the tenth anniversary of her death in 2002. She contributed so much to the Club and to generations of R’s fans in over 50 years dedicated service. She really must of had blue and white blood flowing through her veins. The article reproduced below first appeared in the ‘Bush Ranger’ Club Newspaper in the summer of 1988 and is a glowing testament to her love and dedication to Queen’s … Continue reading

QPR v Swansea City – And Then it Happened….

Team: Green, Onuoha, Hill (Wright-Phillips), Fabio, Ferdinand, Park, Diakite (Derry), Taarabt, Mackie, Hoilett, Cisse (Johnson) Subs Not Used: Murphy, Nelsen, Dyer, Zamora Attendance: 18,072 Anyone remember this from the recent Augsburg trip article ? ‘My only worries were the way we were carved open time and again in the first 30 minutes. Fabio at left-back got exposed on about three occasions with a simple ball down the channels. At times Nelsen was playing left-back, covering for Fabio’s ventures upfield and … Continue reading

QPR U18 (2) – Charlton Athletic U18 (3)

Posted on by Finney

Team: Lumley, Downes, Buck, Hubble, Wise, Kpekawa, Comley, Mitchell, Petrasso, Skapetis, Fitzpatrick. The temperature was still rising at Harlington as the R’s first match in the U18’s Professional Development League 2 (South) got underway. David Fitzpatrick captained the side and the match officials wore florescent bibs in contrast to Charlton’s black away kit. Rangers got off to a slow start as the visitors took the initiative, but Aaron Mitchell went close with a header just over the crossbar. Around 15 … Continue reading

July 1978 – Rangers’ Previous First Team Visit to Germany

Posted on by Finney

As part of a series of articles where the Indy R’s look back at previous QPR visits to Germany, I interviewed Robin Haldane about the last visit that the first team made to Germany – 34 years ago in 1978 when Robin attended the first three matches of five games played in total. 1978/79 was the fourth consecutive season that Rangers visited what was then West Germany -visits that had been initiated by Dave Sexton, a great admirer of continental … Continue reading

‘Tis the Season to be Joey

Posted on by Finney

It was November 2011. Everyone thought Bradley Wiggins was a character from a Charles Dickens book, Kim Jong-il was feeling ‚Äúalright, thanks – can’t complain‚Äù and Queen’s Park Rangers were playing well. It’s hard to think that these events even happened, let alone less than a year ago. It seems so long and inaccurate it may as well be a pass from Charlie Adam. QPR had just beaten Stoke City at Stoke and I was happy, despite Stoke playing football … Continue reading

The Trip to Augsburg

Posted on by Finney

After landing at Munich Airport, Martin Percival and I headed immediately to one of the local beer gardens before taking the train to Augsburg. ChrisPTenner met us outside the station and we walked the short distance to the hotel. After checking in, we sat outside for a very welcome beer with Ron Hill and Chris. At the next table was an R’s fan who informed us that he had been living in Holland for 30 years. He soon joined us … Continue reading

Season Review: Final Part – May 2012

Posted on by Finney

We are now facing the moment of truth – two games left ! One is a home game on Saturday 6th May against gritty Stoke. The other is the little matter of an away trip, on Sunday 13th May, to title hopefuls Manchester City.¬† Will we have enough in the locker so that, as the 2011/12 Premier League season ends at 5.00pm on 13th May, we are still a Premier League team for 2012/13 ? Those were the only thoughts … Continue reading
