Swansea City v QPR – Super Mac to the Rescue

Posted on by Site Admin

Warnock made three changes for the trip to South Wales – Taarabt, Hill and Hall coming in for Wright-Phillips, Connolly and Gabbidon. This left us with a new central defensive partnership, with all three of the replaced dropping to the bench. Swansea meanwhile lined up with two former Rangers players (one an ex-loanee) on either wing, in Wayne Routledge and Scott Sinclair. Rangers started off the better team for the first ten minutes or so. After just three minutes, following … Continue reading

QPR v Sunderland – The Nightmare before Christmas

Posted on by Site Admin

A late goal by Sunderland’s Wes Brown put paid to QPR’ s 2nd half fight back as they recovered from going two goals behind. Goals by Heidar Helguson and Jamie Mackie had cancelled out Nicklas Bendtner and Stephane Sessegnon earlier strikes. QPR’s dismal run continued at Loftus Road as Sunderland inflicted the third defeat on the Londoners and chalked up a second win in three for the newly appointed manager, Martin O’Neill. Thanks to the fixture compilers, Sunderland were playing … Continue reading

QPR v Manchester United – No Hiding Place

Posted on by Site Admin

Team: Cerny, Gabbidon, Connolly, Young, Traore, Faurlin, Barton, Mackie, Wright-Phillips (Taarabt), Bothroyd (Hill), Helguson (Campbell) Subs Not Used: Kenny, Orr, Derry, Smith Attendance: 18,033 (including 3,047 ManU fans) Phil Jones in particular surprised me with his ability to sprint with the ball under such control, it was something to see. Some of our players struggled to control it whilst standing still. Taarabt looked hungry, perhaps he realised that he does actually need to perform in a big league in order … Continue reading

The Raven – 375 Goldhawk Road, Stamford Brook, London W6

Posted on by Site Admin

The Raven came into existence in 1839 and it didn’t surprise me to learn that it was originally a stable block. Formerly known as ‘The Raven Tavern’, the name is supposed to be linked to the old Ravenscourt Manor House and the park. The Manor House was at one time surrounded by a moat fed by the Stamford Brook and then demolished after suffering severe damage by incendiary bombs in 1941. The pub is situated almost opposite Stamford Brook Station … Continue reading

QPR U18 (2) – Huddersfield Town U18 (1)

FA Youth Cup 3rd Round Team: Deane, Downes, Walker, Champion, Browne, Sendles-White, Sutherland, Simmonds, Gibbons, Henry-Francis, Andrade Subs: Trani, Monthe, Webb, Daly, Hubble Attendance: 639 On a bitterly cold evening in W12, the R’s lined up in a 4-5-1 formation. The visitors had the first decent chance of the game when their forward got in front of Jake Downes, but he headed the ball wide. It soon became evident who the Huddersfield playmaker was. Everything revolved around their No.7, Duane … Continue reading

Liverpool v QPR

Posted on by Site Admin

Team: Cerny, Gabbidon, Traore, Young, Ferdinand (Orr), Faurlin, Barton, Smith (Campbell), Mackie (Hill), Wright-Phillips, Bothroyd. Subs Not Used: Putnins, Connolly, Derry, Buzsaky Attendance: 45,016 It was one-way traffic in the 1st half and Liverpool could have been 3-0 up if they’d taken their chances and had Cerny not played so well. I take back what I said about him not being good enough to cover for Paddy Kenny – he had a great match. The 2nd half was much better … Continue reading
