‘Man on the Run’ – Running in Memory of Neil Roberts

Last Sunday, over 400 runners took part in this year’s ‘Man on the Run Race for Life’ at Hampton, Herne Bay. Amongst them were a number of R’s fans who were competing in memory of our own Neil Roberts who sadly died a few months ago. The Rangers contingent included Dave Robinson, Justin Stone, Multi Sports Manager, and Joe Hylton. Poignantly, Neil’s young son, Charlie, started the race which provoked a loud cheer of ‘You R’s’. After the run, many joined the family, as we had done after Neil’s funeral, at ‘The Plough’, which was Neil’s local.
Well done to everyone that was involved and the aim is that this annual event which promotes awareness of male cancers will include a bigger turn out of R’s fans next year. Neil had bravely competed himself a number of times and had been disappointed that so few local men had previously taken part. Last Sunday Neil would have been looking down proudly.

God Bless you Neil.

  1. ‘Always There’ for those who don’t remember was the slogan Neil devised for the OSC when he worked for the club many moons ago. And you know what ,Neil was always there home & away. A very affable bloke and Rangers through and through. Sadly missed ,never forgotten. Conratulations to Dave & Joe and all who ran in his honour.

  2. Well done lads,
I didn’t know Neil, but I’m sure he was looking down watching you.
Makes you proud to be part of QPR

  3. Well done and thank you so much for coming down to Herne Bay to run in the race in Neil Roberts memory. It meant alot to me, Neils wife and my son Charlie Roberts. Thank you all.

  4. Where has the time flown? Wasn’t Neil’s Wife going to run? Great flag despite the club badge. Even better is the tee shirt – a very nice touch. well done to those who ran.
