I’d like to start this report by saying what a useless specimen of a referee, Mr Kevin Friend is. Apparently he’s a Premier League standard official, could’ve fooled everyone inside Loftus Road on Saturday afternoon. Try as he might, he didn’t ruin what turned out to be a great afternoon of football as the two best teams in the Championship went head-to-head. First versus second, England v Wales in what promised to be a cracking game and so it was. … Continue reading →

Team: Deane, Harriman, Sanderson, Doughty, O’Donnell, Olley, Bewick, Gibbons, Henry-Francis, Graham, Sharif. The draw for the 3rd Round of the FA Youth Cup was made recently and the U18’s will be up against Nottingham Forest at Loftus Road on Tuesday 7th December, kick-off 7pm. Following his call-up to the Northern Ireland U21 squad, 16-year-old Gareth Deane made it to the bench last week for the match against Scotland, better luck next time Gareth. I noticed that the recently installed gates … Continue reading →

Personally, I thought Walker was a MOTM contender again, along with Adel (again). And Gorkss deserves a mention in despatches for keeping Parkin quiet, and don’t snigger, as any player who has scored 7 goals in a team bottom of the league, must be doing something right. The form book wasn’t upset today with North End being involved in 31 goals in 8 away games, including a 6-4 win at Elland Road and a 3-4 reverse with their bitter rivals … Continue reading →

Following the great success of the recent OSC Halloween gig in support of the ‘QPR in the Community Trust’, we are arranging a Ska Klub Night on Saturday 27th November at the Irish Cultural Centre, Black’s Road, Hammersmith from 7.30pm onwards, with the proceeds going to the Trust. The evening also celebrates 75 years of the OSC. We have secured the services of Skalectrix, a local Ska band who will entertain us for the evening playing those famous Trojan and … Continue reading →

Team: Kenny, Walker, Gorkss, Hill, Mackie, Derry, Faurlin, Smith, Taarabt (Rowlands), Ephraim (Clarke), Hulse (Agyemang). Subs Not Used: Cerny, Borrowdale, Hall, Andrade. Attendance: 22, 859 (2,076 R’s fans) The minute’s silence was impeccably observed of course and joining the players and officials were S/Sgt David Lafferty of the Royal Engineers and former Forest player, 91 year-old Sid Ottewell, who had served in the RAF during WW2. A number of R’s fans remarked that if we were going to record our … Continue reading →

Team: Deane, Harriman, Sanderson, Doughty, O’Donnell, Olley, Bewick, Gibbons, Henry-Francis, Andrade, Sharif. Harlington was overcast and amazingly for the training ground at any time of the year, there was no wind ! We learnt that the Reserves had lost 3-5 to Hayes & Yeading during the week. Mo Sharif scored 2 and James White the other. Gareth Deane played in the third UEFA qualifying Round for the Northern Ireland U17’s and since then, the 16 year-old keeper has been called … Continue reading →

Team: Kenny, Hill, Walker, Gorkss, Connolly, Derry (Clarke), Taarabt (Borrowdale), Faurlin, Mackie, Smith, Hulse (Agyemang). Subs Not Used: Cerny, Rowlands, Ephraim, Andrade. Attendance: 17,818 Well that was a draw that felt like a win. On a cold and blustery night by the sea, we really had to dig in to get anything from that game. It was a very even match overall and, although they’re a club that I have never had much liking for, I have to give Portsmouth … Continue reading →

Apart from the servicemen that were associated with playing for QPR and tragically lost their lives serving their Country, there must also have been many R’s fans too including two that were killed this year in Afghanistan. In April, the following article was written by Juliet Eysenck and appeared in the local Gazette: ‘A solemn silence fell at a West London church as friends and family remembered a brave soldier killed in Afghanistan. Lance Corporal Tom Keogh of the Hallfield … Continue reading →

For the second time running, this fixture produced arguing points by the shed load, mostly about the ref’s performance or lack of it, plenty of goals and a master class by Messrs Faurlin and Taarabt. Warnock was forced into replacing the injured Clint Hill with Bradley Orr returning to take up his right-back berth while Walker moved across to cover the left-back position. Warnock also handed Tommy Smith his first start as he replaced Hogan Ephraim in midfield. Rob Hulse … Continue reading →

One of the matches played during the Summer Tour in 1986 was in the small Swedish town of Hoganas, the place where I have lived all my life. Hoganas, with a population of about 25,000, is located in the south of Sweden, 15 miles north of Helsingborg and 50 miles north of Malmo, Sweden’s third town. The game was played at Julivallen on Saturday, 2nd August. This happened to be the day of my aunt’s 30 birthday. My aunt lived … Continue reading →
