Youth Alliance Cup Quarter Final – Southern Section Team: Bulmer, Cox, Bailey, Ehmer, Waters, Olley, Sutherland, Doughty, Nanetti, Molloy, Sterling. Subs: Parmenter, Perring, Bewick, Abdellah, Henry-Smith. Earlier in the week the U18’s had an emphatic 4-0 victory at Harlington over Barnet with goals from Sterling (2), Nanetti and Ehmer. Michael Harriman had picked up an injury so Elliott Cox filled in at right back. The match kicked off at 11am so Pat and Tom Harrison only missed around the first … Continue reading →

Team: Ikeme, Ramage (Taarabt), Stewart, Gorkss, Hill, Connolly (Borrowdale), Buzsaky, Faurlin, Cook, Simpson, German (Vine). Subs Not Used: Cerny, Oastler, Quashie, Balanta. Attendance: 11,178 I was so pleased that Antonio was starting, well deserved in my opinion. We knew that with the team low on confidence and Doncaster’s reputation as a good footballing side that we were in for a tough encounter. It was a much better atmosphere though which improved even more when Antonio was well placed to put … Continue reading →

There had been many rumours flying around regarding the intentions of Flavio Briatore and exactly what was going to happen to Gianni Paladini ? The Club Statement last Friday evening in some ways came as a surprise but nobody has actually departed and it’s not exactly a major reshuffle is it ? So a new Chairman of the Holding Company , the Mittal family have increased their shareholding but Flavio Briatore and Bernie Ecclestone remain as shareholders and Gianni Paladini … Continue reading →

If I mention Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Michael Palin and Terry Jones, older supporters will immediately think of the quirky BBC series ’Monty Python’s Flying Circus’. Amongst the most famous sketches from the show were the ‘New Gas Cooker’ sketch and the ‘Ministry of Silly Walks’ sketch. Both of these were filmed in Thorpebank Road, Shepherds Bush in 1969. So what’s that got to do with Queen’s Park Rangers ? Well nothing, but if you visit … Continue reading →

Team: Ikeme, Ramage, Stewart, Gorkss, Hill, Buzsaky (Taarabt), Connolly, Faurlin, Cook, Simpson, Priskin (German). Subs Not Used: Cerny, Borrowdale, Vine, Quashie, Balanta. Attendance: 15,247 Poor atmosphere and a poor crowd gave for a poor match. At times, the silence was deafening and it was two sides who deserved a share of the points. We started the game looking like losers and ended it finally with at least some sort of urgency. There is an air of total disillusion from fans … Continue reading →

Team: Ikeme, Stewart, Gorkss, Connolly, Hill, Cook, Faurlin, Quashie (Taarabt), Ephraim (Buzsaky), Simpson, Bent (Vine). Subs Not Used: Cerny, Borrowdale, Balanta, German. Attendance:10,940 The first half will go down as the worst I have ever seen. It summed up the state of QPR at the moment as in they looked like a bunch of overpaid amateurs who only just turned their hand to playing football. Player power has killed the squads’ chances of progressing and even usually committed players like … Continue reading →

The Football Association has been asked to investigate the circumstances of Flavio Briatore’s takeover of Queen’s Park Rangers by Antonio Caliendo, the club’s former majority shareholder bought out by the Formula One tycoon. Flavio Briatore bought QPR from Antonio Caliendo together with Bernie Ecclesstone. Caliendo has written to Lord Triesman, the FA Chairman, to ask him to “investigate whether the transfer (of Caliendo’s shareholding) was done in a proper, legal and transparent manner.” Briatore bought the club together with Bernie … Continue reading →

The name Derek Buxton is familiar to many QPR fans who are old enough to have read the match programmes in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. A couple of weeks ago, we received the sad news that Derek had passed away on Saturday, 23rd January, 2010 at the age of 74, following a short struggle with cancer. He is survived by two daughters and a son. Derek was a QPR legend in his very own special way. His regular “Statistics” … Continue reading →

Supporters’ groups have urged the QPR Board to re-open dialogue with them in the wake of Saturday’s heated demonstration outside Loftus Road. Hundreds of Rangers fans gathered outside the main entrance after their team’s 1-0 defeat by Scunthorpe to voice their discontent with majority shareholder Flavio Briatore and his fellow Directors. Lack of stability on the playing and coaching side, the sale of star winger Wayne Routledge to Newcastle and Briatore’s recent remarks, appearing to dismiss supporters’ concerns, have all … Continue reading →

Team: Ikeme, Hill, Gorkss, Connolly, Leigertwood, Buzsaky (Balanta), Quashie, Faurlin, Taarabt (Cook), Vine (German), Simpson. Subs Not Used: Cerny, Ramage, Stewart, Ephraim, Balanta. Attendance: 13,105 It was another shockingly poor performance on the pitch and another embarrassing defeat. In front of something around 8,000 paying fans (13,000 announced and 3,000 complimentary tickets given out to local schools but there was not, simply, that many in attendance), of which several pockets were singing songs against the Board and at Briatore in … Continue reading →
