Question: ‘What Is The Worst Thing Anyone’s Ever Said To You ? ‚Äì ‚ÄúAre You A Chelsea Supporter ?‚Äù ‚Äì Alan Johnson

Posted on by Site Admin

What a classic response that was from the current Home Secretary ! Thanks to Julia for spotting this Q and A with Alan Johnson in the Guardian recently. I wasn’t certain that he was an R’s fan and I didn’t know that he grew up in North Kensington, Southam Street to be precise which Roger Mayne famously photographed before it was demolished in 1969. The interview was conducted by Rosanna Greenstreet :- Q: When were you happiest ? A: When … Continue reading

The Night Alan Wilks Scored A Record Five Goals

Posted on by Site Admin

On the night of Tuesday 10th October 1967, Alan Wilks scored a record five goals in the 5-1 League Cup drubbing of Oxford United. He was born in Slough on the 5th October, 1946 and arrived in May 1965 from Chelsea. Despite that amazing five-goal feat, he was never a First team regular and was eventually transferred to Gillingham in 1971. In that time he made just 54 League and Cup appearances and scored 19 goals. A good crowd of … Continue reading

QPR v Reading

Team:¬† Cerny, Ramage, Stewart, Gorkss, Borrowdale, Routledge, Faurlin, Watson, Buzsaky (Mahon), Simpson (Vine), Taarabt (Agyemang) Subs Not Used: Heaton, Hall, Alberti, Ainsworth. Attendance: 11,900 Wow, Wow, Wow. It was another fantastic performance last night. You can’t really blame Watson for his sending off. The second yellow card was for taking a free kick too quickly ‚Ä쬆 since when was that a bookable offence ? Even with ten men I still felt confident of an R’s win, as poor as the … Continue reading

Team: Cerny, Ramage, Stewart, Gorkss, Borrowdale, Routledge (Ainsworth), Mahon, Faurlin, Buzsaky (Agyemang), Taarabt,Simpson (Vine) Subs Not Used: Heaton, Hall, Harris, Alberti. Attendance: 12,810 One word: PERFECT. Not a bad player wearing the hoops today. Some of the football was sublime and the third goal summed us up, with about eight passes of one-touch (or two at the most), ended up with Simpson slotting home via the far post. The last 30 minutes was spent with R’s players’ nutmegging the opposition, … Continue reading

Flavio Briatore Urged To Stand Firm At QPR

Posted on by Site Admin

Flavio Briatore was encouraged to fight for his football life last night, threatening to tip the Football League into a damaging and costly confrontation with the flamboyant Chairman of Queen’s Park Rangers. Briatore has been called to defend himself in front of the Football League Board, which could throw him out of the game after claims that he had fallen foul of the League’s ‚Äúfit and proper persons‚Äù test. But Bernie Ecclestone, Briatore’s longstanding friend and powerful ally in Formula … Continue reading

QPR Screen References: No.15 – ‘Boys From The Bush’ ‚Äì Episode: ‘Our Rellos’

Posted on by Site Admin

Thanks to Declin for unearthing nearly all of the ‘Boys From The Bush’ episodes that he recorded on video. I did manage to find three episodes on ebay recorded on a DVD a few years ago which were then reviewed as number 3 in this series. There has been nothing released commercially and as far as I know it has never been repeated by the BBC or anyone else for that matter. The main characters are the Toomers, Reg and … Continue reading

A Night On The Toon

The first person I met at Heathrow before my rendezvous with Jimmy, was one of the Hayes mob, Steve with the missus. After a security check which still includes removal of belt, jacket and shoes plus most of your possessions for scanning. There were loads of Rangers fans waiting to board the plane including Mark Jamieson with his brother Dave. Barry also hails from Ruislip and he was suited and booted as he was off later to the Races. After … Continue reading
