Puma Youth Alliance Cup Southern Area Final Team: Putnins, Cox, Waters, Harris, Wright, Davenport, Smith, Ehmer, German, Vanterpool, Parker.¬† Subs: Bulmer, Perring, Bailey, Sutherland, Nanetti This was to be a complete reversal of the score and the inclement weather from nearly twelve months ago when Colchester United knocked the R’s out of the Cup by three goals to nil in very wet and very blustery conditions. This time Rangers progressed to the Final by the same score-line in warm and … Continue reading

Flag Day In Percy Road

Posted on by Site Admin

Olly has a wide range of flags in his collection and before a home game recently, he displayed a selection of them on the corner of Percy Road and Uxbridge Road.¬† Apart from the large ‘Notting Hill’ Union flag, his ‘Stewpeas No.5 ‘ Jamaican flag pays tribute to Damion Stewart of course and as you can see, the other one on show that day needs no introduction whatsoever ! One of his ‘Ladbroke Grove’ flags that went missing after the … Continue reading

Team: Putnins, Cox, Waters, Harris, Olley, Davenport, Smith, Perring, Nanetti, German, Parker¬† Subs: Bailey, Ehmer, Wright, Brittain and Molloy. On a mild morning at Harlington, overcast but with the sun beginning to poke through, the game kicked off about 5 minutes late. We had only just taken our positions adjacent to the corner flag as Antonio German burst down the left, cut into the box and his low drive was blocked by the keeper’s legs to safety. Soon after, the … Continue reading

That 1972 Television Commercial

Posted on by Site Admin

In February 1972, a football commercial hit our screens on ITV. It was acknowledged as being a big success (apart from some in the media) and gained a lot of publicity at the time. The friendly match against West Bromwich Albion was set for a Friday night and also at very short notice. The events leading up to this little bit of history were covered in great detail the following week in the Blackpool programme as follows:- ‘BushTelegraph’ Last week’s … Continue reading

Keith Hunt R.I.P

Posted on by Site Admin

It’s sad to report the premature death of lifelong R’s supporter Keith Hunt, who died suddenly at his family home in Worthing on 19th January 2009, aged just 62. Keith grew up in Cobbold Road, Shepherd’s Bush and then in the early 1970’s moved to Luton before finally settling on the Sussex coast. I knew Keith quite well from R’s games during the late 1960’s and 1970’s and will always remember our jubilant celebrations together on the terraces of Ewood … Continue reading
