QPR U18 (1) – Bournemouth U18 (0)

Puma Youth Alliance Cup Group 3
Team: Goodchild, Coyne, Brown, O’Brien, Ford, Wright, Balanta, Arthur, German, Rose, Davenport.
Subs: Crowther, Vanterpool, Morgan-Cummings, Folkes, Parker

QPR almost went behind in the first 5 minutes when the visitors hit the post. This prompted the R’s to step up the pace and two good chances then followed. Romone Rose had an effort that went just wide and then the Bournemouth keeper was forced to dive bravely at Angelo Balanta’s feet. On 19 minutes, a misunderstanding between Chris Goodchild and Michael Wright almost let in the visitors to take the lead. The R’s almost went ahead themselves on the half hour when Rose’s cross was met by German but his header went straight to the keeper. Danny Davenport had to go off and was replaced by Cyrus Vanterpool. However, the breakthrough came on 37 minutes when a fine ball by Matt O’Brien found Antonio German to score his sixth goal of the Season. Half Time: 1 – 0

The second half continued with the R’s again mainly on the attack and missing four chances with German and Rose each going close twice. On 65 minutes, Aaron Morgan-Cummings replaced Angelo Balanta and was soon in the action when a snap shot fizzled over the bar. The hesitant defending by QPR almost allowed the visitors to snatch an equaliser. Lee Brown then picked up a needless booking for not retreating 10 yards. Just before the end, Rose missed another golden chance when he fired wide. The referee played an extra 3 minutes before blowing the full time whistle.

  1. Great report Rob. Sounds as if we should have won by more than just one goal. Hope Danny’s injury wasn’t too bad when he went off.
